Again, pre-owners such as myself, would still be breaking the Law by downloading and using these files. That said, I remind you that these files could completely side-step any pre-ownership. Do I enjoy paying out the money not particularly But I take solace from the fact that I'm doing 'the right thing'. In my own case this is either the third or forth time I've owned this particular album.

I bet that the majority of people that will download the torrent will already own it: after all, it is a relatively obscure release.Absolutley correct on pre-ownership. I bet that the majority have bought this at least once already. Hands up who has bought the Ultravox! remaster CD? Hands up who bought the previous CD release? Hands up who owned it on vinyl or cassette? Not sure if it was ever produced on 8-track. Originally posted by Alone With Strangers:ĥ) A new one that I didn't mention last year. And all the Ultravox ones from last year. No offence meant to anyone & if Cerise wishes it, I'll delete the topic. It would be interesting to see how many of the people slighting the torrent have NEVER downloaded a music file without paying for it. I never share the plain old stereo versions since I also believe that the artist should benefit.ĥ) A new one that I didn't mention last year. I don't convert othersurround mixes to DTS (OK, I admit, I did one but regretted it). It's for this reason that I won't do Cathedral Oceans. Therefore, the discs can only be played in a properly equipped hi-fi/surround system.Ĥ) If there were official surround mixes out there, I would buy them. At allģ) the discs cannot be converted to stereo or to MP3s or AACs. Doing so is boring & only serves to alienate people who may be undecided.Ģ) the discs are unique: you can't buy them in the shops. Please don't forget that I'm an adult and keep on telling me the same thing over & over again. Just to recap the arguments from last year without going into detail because I'm way too busy:ġ) I understand all the arguments against the discs. Some people citing them as copyright theft and some saying that the discs were something new that could not be sourced anywhere else.Īlso, last time I looked (which was last year, I admit), there is nothing in the site rules prohibiting this. The last category is DTS Neo:6, a format for upmixing (or virtualizing) from a stereo sound source. There was a similar debate when I posted links to some Midge era DTS cds last year and, to be fair, the responses were basically 50:50. The name comes from the fact that the tracks are recorded in 24 bits at 96 kHz. This format is primarily used in DVD Audio or audio tracks that accompany video DVDs. It represents an audio format used for storing high-definition music with several channels. DTS ES uses less compression than Dolby Digital EX.ĭTS ES standard has two variants: DTS ES Matrix, with a seventh channel interpolated with the primary channels called virtualization and DTS ES Discrete, with a seventh independent channel. The second is DTS ES ( Digital Theater Sound Extended Surround), a 6.1 standard that uses an additional rear channel (rear central). These devices are normally identified by the presence of this logo: The first five channels are used for the satellite speakers, while the last is reserved for the subwoofer. The first is DTS 6, the most commonly used 5.1 standard. It can encode six-channel sound with less compression than the Dolby Digital standard. DTS falls into four different categories.
